Photos by Janet Landrum courtesy of House of Blues Sunset ![]() Additional Speaker InformationDawn Solér has been a dynamic entity in the world of music supervision for over twenty years and has worked on more than 150 films and television shows. She began her career at Inaudible Productions, working with notable industry veteran Peter Afterman. After starting her own company, Working Music, she went on to create several hit soundtracks for New Line Cinema including Now And Then, Dumb and Dumber, and Don Juan De Marco, which garnered both Academy Award and Grammy Award nominations. Dawn joined ABC Studios in December 06’ to head the new Music department. Just like in her past, she has hit the ground running to make ABC Studios the prominent leader of music on television. By using her priceless knowledge of the music business and her well cultivated relationships, she has been able to, in a very short time, catapult the quality of music to a whole new level. She started a showcase series which brings new and current releasing artists on the lot to introduce their talent to ABC executives and producers. This led to the filming of the showcases that will soon be featured on the upcoming launch of ABC.com music lounge that Dawn conceived and developed with her partners at the ABC marketing and promotions. She has also grown the 5th floor library into a mini label that now contains enough contemporary and cutting edge material to service not only her ABC Studio shows, but ABC Family and Channel. These efforts fully supplied the music for ABC family’s Samurai Girl. She also used this show vehicle to launch Shawn Hlookoff, ABC’s first artist development deal on the now named 5th floor label. Shawn has gone on to be the voice of the re-launched campaign for Daytime and will be releasing his EP through i-Tunes in March. David Quan is currently the Director of Music Services at NBC Universal. He oversees music licensing for such shows as Monk, Kings, and all the Law & Order franchises. In addition he negotiates composer agreements for all newly created music, troubleshoots any music issues for all NBC scripted programming, and exploits the NBC music catalog with recent placements in "Indiana Jones And The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," "Revolutionary Road," and "American Idol." Prior to that, he was Director of Professional Music Services where he was responsible for licensing and exploitation of the Sony Pictures Catalog securing music placements in "Roswell," "The West Wing," "The Simpsons," and "The X-Files". He has also worked at various music publishing companies such as Warner/Chappell, Leiber & Stoller, Music & Media, All Nations Music, China Music Management and has represented some of the most highly regarded songwriters of our era, including Leiber & Stoller, Henry Mancini, Jeff Silbar, Randy Travis, & others. In his spare time, he enjoys listening to Karen Carpenter while watching Ultimate Fighting Championship. |
