NMPA's David Israelite Discusses Monies Owed To Music Publishers By Labels

AIMP will present a discussion of settlement negotiations between the NMPA and record labels. The settlement, in the hundreds of millions, concerns monies owed to music publishers that currently reside in record labels’ pending and unmatched accounts. Leading the discussion will be NMPA President and CEO, David Israelite and lawyer Kenneth Feinberg who has been retained by the NMPA to serve as a Special Master of any settlement distributions.

The presentation will start promptly at 7:00 p.m. so please arrive early to get a good seat.

Self-parking is available for $7 in the buildling and there is also some street parking nearby.

We anticipate a large turnout for this very special event so please RSVP to hold your spot.  You can also leave your reservation on the AIMP voicemail if you prefer, 818-771-7301.

We look forward to seeing you on October 1st!

Additional Speaker Information

David Israelite is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the National Music Publishers Association. Founded in 1917, The National Music Publishers' Association (NMPA) is the premiere trade association representing American music publishers and their songwriter partners. The NMPA's mandate is to protect and advance the interests of music publishers and their songwriter partners in matters relating to the domestic and global protection of music copyrights. Music publishers control the copyrights for the underlying compositions of songs on behalf of the songwriters they represent. The Harry Fox Agency, Inc., the leading U.S. mechanical rights organization, is a wholly owned subsidiary of the NMPA.

Kenneth R. Feinberg has been key to resolving many of our nation's most challenging and widely known disputes. He is best known for serving as the Special Master of the Federal September 11th Victim Compensation Fund of 2001, and the Fund Administrator for the Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund following the tragic shootings at Virginia Tech. Mr. Feinberg also has served as Special Master in Agent Orange, asbestos personal injury, wrongful death claims, Dalkon shield, and DES (pregnancy medication) cases. He also has served as Distribution Agent for AIG Fair Fund claimants, and has been the Fund Administrator for a variety of claimant funds totaling more than $1 billion. In his capacity as an arbitrator, Mr. Feinberg helped determine the fair market value of the original Zapruder film of the Kennedy assassination, and legal fees in Holocaust slave labor litigation.
