Copyright Society of the USA's 2010 Mid-Winter Meeting

February 4-6, 2010.

Don't miss the Copyright Society of the USA's 2010 Mid-Winter Meeting, to be held February 4-6, 2010 at the Camelback Inn in Scottsdale, Arizona. This year's meeting brings together a diverse group of speakers from content owners, distribution channels and social networks to debate and discuss ways that copyright can and should be monetized, used and protected in the digital world. The meeting also includes a special copyright law update, covering the most important court decisions of the past year, and a keynote speech, plus warm and sunny weather and plenty of events and activities ideal for socializing with speakers and attendees.

Featured panels include:

"The File-Sharing Wars -- Is A Truce In Sight?" Big changes have happened in the past year, both in and out of the courthouse, when it comes to protecting copyrights in the on-line environment. This panel will discuss lessons from recent peer-to-peer cases, changes in enforcement strategies, including "graduated response," and what the best approaches are from practical and policy standpoints.

"Copyrights in the Cloud -- Social Networking and Fair Use." With social networking sites now in the mainstream of society, it is time to re-examine fair use and other issues arising from the use of content on popular sites such as Facebook, MySpace and Twitter. This panel will explore the ways in which copyrighted works are transmitted through social networks and what should or should not be done about it.

"The Final Frontier -- How Copyright Owners and Distributors Can Make Money in Cyberspace." The Internet doesn't just present challenges for copyright owners, it also presents tremendous opportunity. Across industries, various parties are finding ways to take legal commercial advantage of the technological and artistic evolution spurred by the Internet. This panel brings together representatives from across the spectrum of interests -- content owners, distributors, and users -- for a discussion of cutting-edge business models for monetization of copyright on the Internet.

"Copyright Law Update." Featuring a survey of the most important copyright decisions of the last year.
