FOX TV In Focus

TV studios of all shapes and sizes have to balance the music needs of all their productions but FOX TV probably sees it all.  From music-intensive shows like GLEE to dramas like HOMELAND, AMERICAN HORROR STORY and QUEEN OF THE SOUTH where music is a key element and comedies like MODERN FAMILY, the FOX TV music department has to serve a variety of musical needs.  

Join us for an informative and entertainining discussion with Ward Hake from FOX and 3 of his trusted outside music supervisors as they discuss how they approach, plan and execute various musical strategies that all have to serve a story.

 Premier Members and/or groups of 5 or more who have RSVP'd and paid online may request reserved seating by e-mail or phone, 818-771-7301.  We will do our best to accommodate late reservations made the day before the event, but please be advised that entrée selection and space may be limited. Online reservations can be paid online by credit card.  Payment at the door is by cash, check or credit card (with a $5 surcharge).  Those who walk up without a reservation will be served whatever is available, space allowing, but most likely prime rib. If an event is sold out, walk-ups will not be accommodated.

Attention Students!  The AIMP has launched its education initiative at Lawry's.  What this means is that up to 8 students are allowed to attend each panel for $20 per person.  The fee does not include food. This is a great opportunity to learn about music publishing and network. You must RSVP and pay in advance via e-mail or by calling 818-771-7301.

Attention attorneys: this activity has been approved for .75 hours of Minimum Continuing Legal Education Credit by the State Bar of California. Attorneys wishing to register for MCLE credit should bring their state bar number with them for the sign in sheet.
Attention CPA’s: This activity follows the continuing education guidelines specified in the California Board of Accountancy Regulations. CPA’s wishing to register for .75 CE credit should bring their CPA license number with them for the sign in sheet. [Pick up your certificate at the luncheon – AIMP cannot issue certificates after-the-fact.]

PJ Bloom is a 20-year Entertainment Industry veteran and has remained a top Music Supervisor for well over a decade. He is a two-time Guild of Music Supervisors Award winner, two-time ASCAP Award winner, fourtime BMI Award winner, placed No. 80 on Billboard Magazine’s annual Power 100 list, owns a Grammy winning record label and is partners in one of the top Music Supervision firms in the US. PJ’s career soundtrack sales tally more than 50 million singles and 15 million albums worldwide. He has created unique soundtracks for over a thousand episodes of television and fifty films as well as video games, advertisements and even amusement park thrill rides. He has collaborated with such prolific filmmakers and television producers as Steven Spielberg, Ryan Murphy, Michael Mann, Jerry Bruckheimer and Ridley Scott while rendering his distinctive brand to nearly every studio and network in the Hollywood system. PJ is a partner in Neophonic Music & Media, one of the largest and most highly decorated full-service Music Supervision and Consulting firms in existence. Credits include The Americans, Feud, Game of Thrones, Westworld, Vinyl, Glee, American Horror Story and The People vs. OJ Simpson.

Kevin Edelman, owner of Metalman Media, Inc., built the foundation for his music supervision career as a musician and radio DJ, while attending the University of Florida. After moving to Los Angeles, Kevin combined his knowledge of music, recording, and business with his passion for film and television production and started Metalman. Combined, Kevin has music supervised thousands of hours of television and features. Kevin also serves on the board of directors for the Guild of Music Supervisors.

Ward Hake is the Vice President of Music for 20th Century Fox’s TV Music division. He supervises all aspects of music for 20th Century Fox TV and FOX21 Studios. Some of the 30+ shows include mega hits like; Glee, Modern Family, Homeland, Empire, Star, The Simpsons, People vs OJ, Family Guy, How I Met Your Mother, Sons of Anarchy, and Bones. He oversees all music needs, starting with the pilot through the show’s life on the air. This includes hiring of the music supervisor, composer and getting an original theme song written for every show.

Andrea von Foerster is a music supervisor for film, television and online projects based in Los Angeles. Throughout her 17 years in the industry, her credits include independent films such as (500) Days of Summer, From Prada to Nada, Bellflower, Begin Again, Before We Go, and Table 19; studio films such as Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, Chronicle, Chasing Mavericks, Devil’s Due, Fantastic Four, and Going In Style; music documentaries such as The White Stripes Under Great White Northern Lights and Butch Walker: Out Of Focus. Her television work includes Dollhouse, Stargate Universe, Don't Trust the B In Apt. 23, Modern Family, Life In Pieces, The Mist, Queen Of The South and numerous MTV shows such as Run’s House and Life Of Ryan.

With over 20 years of experience in the film & television music industry, Mike Todd is a leader who has championed the composer and songwriter community at all career levels. A professional musician himself, Todd is motivated by a deep desire to nurture the diversity of talented rising and established composers as well as responsible for some of ASCAP’s most significant signings. He has produced many of ASCAP’s flagship career development opportunities including; “I Create Music” Expo master sessions and panels, along with the highly regarded ASCAP Film Scoring Workshop. Todd is also a board member of the AIMP and World Soundtrack Academy that produces the World Soundtrack Awards in Belgium and consults for a number of international film music festivals within Europe promoting a global presence for ASCAP.
