Responsibilities

Role Summary:
The Director will report into the SVP of Music Publishing working in the Film Music department of Universal Pictures.

Essential Responsibilities:
Repertoire Marketing:

·  Cultivate a first-hand, extensive knowledge of our catalog

·  Seek out, negotiate key deal points for catalog-wide exploitation deals to take advantage of new media and new markets

·  Update/maintain database of internal and 3rd party TV, film, and commercial music usage

·  Develop music pitching database detailing our compositions used, projects worked, type of music needed, upcoming projects, etc.

·  Coordinate with SVP and Publishing Manager to set general licensing parameters of license pitches

·  Develop, maintain, and utilize music licensee contacts (e.g., music supervisors, music clearance companies, film directors, tv/record producers, advertising creative directors)

·  Develop rapport between publishing department and NBCU music using entities to more effectively plug our songs based on their needs

·  Research the music needs of these contacts in order to effectively market musical works catalog on a song-by-song basis

·  Develop/maintain computerized song pitch work flow system

·  Develop and distribute B2B catalog marketing pieces
Catalog Development:

·  Work with SVPs of Music Publishing and Business Affairs to create business development/strategic alliances deals

·  Work with SVP Music Publishing to seek out, develop, negotiate key deal terms for catalog-wide strategic alliances/marketing deals

·  Update/maintain detailed information in our catalog rights information system (e.g., Counterpoint, FATMIX, MRT)

·  Determine availability of and obtain master recordings, as needed

·  Work on implementation/development of Counterpoint or similar system to track music licensing pitches

·  Research publishing and master rights, as needed

·  Soundminer development: creation/inputting of metadata, uploading of contents, expansion of capabilities

·  Perform light general offices duties, as needed

·  Perform other related duties/projects to support departmental team as requested by management

Qualifications/Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

·  At least 3+ years experience at a manager or director level performing similar functions, or the equivalent thereof

·  Must have strong industry contacts and a proven track record pitching music to music users and licensees such as ad agencies, trailer houses, film/TV production companies, game companies, music supervisors, and music editors

·  Must be a hands-on, self-starter

·  Trustworthy with sensitive and/or confidential information

·  Extremely detail-oriented, organized, and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

·  Able to establish and maintain good working relationships with individuals within Universal and in the business community; diplomacy is a must

·  Bachelor Degree or equivalent work experience in music-related business

Eligibility Requirements:

·  Interested candidates must submit a resume/CV online to be considered

·  Must be 18 years or older

·  Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States

·  Must be covered by Solutions, NBCU’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Program

Desired Characteristics

·  Strong computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Office programs with an emphasis on Excel and Access (or similar database system)

·  Experience with Counterpoint is preferred

·  Experience with Soundminer is a plus

·  Experience with film or television music is a plus
