Classical Music Publisher seeks Part-Time Licensing/Copyright Assistant (NY)

Storied Classical/Educational Music Publishing Company in NYC seeks a motivated quick learner to assist the Licensing & Copyright department.

This position is for a responsible, hard working college grad with excellent organizational and computer skills. Promptness and reliability a must. (20-25 hours a week. Split between 4-5 days.)  This position is ideal for a college grad student taking classes at night or someone looking for a part-time job during the day time.

The ideal candidate will have a general understanding of music publishing and copyright and should also have previous job or internship experience in this field.

Responsibilities will include:

-          Respond to and answer licensing inquiries for small print permissions and mechanical uses

-          Research status of copyrights

-          Issue licenses and follow-up for payment

-          Entry of data into licensing database

-          Filing, photocopying, faxing, miscellaneous administrative functions

-          General admin support of Department Manager and staff

-          Other projects and tasks as assigned

Skills Required:
* Communication skills: Confidence and ability to communicate via telephone and in writing with Customers and Clients in a professional manner.

* Excel and Word skills: Ability to organize information in formats usable by colleagues. Basic knowledge of print settings; cell and text formatting; formulas and file management.  Experience with Microsoft Access a plus.

*Organizational skills: Ability to handle large volumes of work in a timely, prioritized manner.

*Strong ability for attention to detail required
