House Judiciary Committee Passes Register Appointment Bill

The Copyright Alliance reported that on March 29, the House Judiciary Committee passed H.R. 1695, the Register of Copyrights Selection and Accountability Act, as amended, to the House floor by a vote of 27-1. The vote was fairly evenly split with 15 Republicans and 12 Democrats voting in favor. More information from the Committee, along with a video of the markup, is available here. The Copyright Alliance applauded the prompt and decisive passage by the House Judiciary Committee and thanked their members for their tremendous work and support that led to this result. The Copyright Alliance and its members continue to remain very active as the bill works its way through the rest of the legislative process. They issued a press release about it here. They will continue to compile all information regarding the bill on their website.
