![]() View All News Articles ![]() Register of Copyrights Publishes Final CRB Mechanical Royalty RatesFollowing the decision of the Copyright Royalty Board’s (CRB) determination for mechanical royalty rates on Physical Phonorecords, Permanent Digital Downloads and Ringtones, the Register of Copyright has published the final decision in the Federal Register. The following rates go inter effect March 1, 2009 and are effective through December, 2012:
Physical Phonorecords: $09.1cents + overtime rate
Permanent Digital Downloads: $09.1cents + overtime rate Master Ringtones: $.24 cents On Demand Streams & Limited Downloads: rates will vary by service offered and are calculated based on licensee revenue, licensee content cost, number of subscribers plus other variables. Payments and reporting will commence July 26, 2009 for first quarter 2009 retroactive to 2001 and on a quarterly basis going forward.
Interest on late payments: 1.5% per month, or 18% per year
