September News

  • The AIMP has been named one of Billboard's 2018 Indie Power Players!  Billboard’s report recognizes achievement at independently-owned record labels, music publishers and distributors -- but also trade groups and executives who are advocates for the indie music community.  You can read the full list here.
  • The AIMP was proud to join ASCAP, AFM, AMA, BMI, CMPA, NMPA, NSAI, SESAC, RIAA, Recording Academy, SoundExchange, USAlliance for Music, et. al. in issuing a joint statement demanding that any renogotiation of the NAFTA trade agreement "provide clear and strong copyright protections, and not reward those seeking to profit unjustly from American creators." We urge our members to contact their representatives and encourage them to consider the impact any new trade deal between the U.S., Mexico, or Canada will have on the indie music publishing community, and the industry as a whole.
  • Read David Israelite/NMPA's op-ed in response to SiriusXM's comments against the Music Modernization Act.
  • Check out the 3rd episode of Season 2 of the AIMP Nashville Pubcast.  Songwriter, Producer, Publisher, and DJ are only some of the positions that describe Jesse Frasure. Tim Hunze guides us through a conversation with Jesse about his rise to power as a publisher and one of the most sought-after track guys in the industry. We also get a look into Rhythm House Music on how they make the decision to sign their next talent.

Tim Hunze / Parallel Music Publishing

Meet AIMP Nashville Chapter board member Tim Hunze

Upon graduation from Middle Tennessee State University and armed with a degree in Recording Industry Management, Tim started his own record label, Rhythm and Grooves Records. The label had strong initial success with a hit video on BET and a charted single on Billboard charts.  Ultimately, Hunze sold his interest in the company.  In 1993 Tim then took at job as archive manger at Great Cumberland Music Group (later renamed to Hamstein Music).  After a year as archive manager, Tim garnered his first cut with Giant Records artist, Clay Walker. This cut turn into Tim’s first single that peaked at # 14 on Billboard’s country music chart.  Hunze was promoted to creative director in 1995 and procured cuts with artist such as Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood, Kelsea Ballerini, George Strait, Michael Ray, Sugarland, John Michael Montgomery, Rascal Flatts and Kenny Chesney.  In 2000, Hamstein sold to Mosaic Music group and then in 2005 sold to Stage Three Music Group.  Tim was appointed the General Manger.  Under Hunze’s tenure, Stage Three Music Group had over 15 #1’s including Jason Aldean’s “The Truth”, Sugarland’s’ “Want To”, “Already Gone”, and “It Happens”, Carrie Underwood’s, “Cowboy Casanova” and Kenny Chesney’s “Out Last Night”.  Stage Three Writer Bobby Pinson won 2009 BMI Song Writer of The Year award and writer Brett James won 2010 ASCAP writer of the year. In July of 2011, Hunze started Parallel Music Publishing, a partnership with JP Williams of Parallel Entertainment. In their first five years they have scored five #1 singles including, “Mama’s Broken Heart” by Miranda Lambert, “Better Dig Two” By The Band Perry and “Love Me Like You Mean It” by Kelsea Ballerini.
