9/12/19 - Broadway To Hollywood: A Two-Way Street!

Almost as soon as motion pictures began to talk, they began to sing. At the dawn of the talkie era, Hollywood looked to Broadway and its treasure trove of celebrated composers to “musicalize” films. By the mid-1960s, the movie industry\\'s interest in musicals would taper off. But over the past two decades, we have seen a renewed interest in musical theatre, as major studios pour serious resources into film adaptations, original TV musicals, live versions of classic stage productions, and much more. At the same time, bold new voices are being embraced by Broadway, as swelling audiences turn their favorite musical theatre composers into global icons.  This panel of industry and creative professionals will share their insights on where the new opportunities lie in this rapidly expanding marketplace for musical theatre creators, in Hollywood and beyond.
