These leaders of independent and multinational music publishing companies will share their views on the current state of the worldwide music publishing industry and what innovations and adjustments are being made artistically, technologically, financially and legally to address the dramatic challenges facing our industry.

Michael Eames - Founded in 1994, PEN Music Group continues steadily on its path towards establishing itself as one of the leading independent music publishing companies. With its reputation of efficient administration, attention to its clients and continued success in the world of film & TV music licensing (300+ placements each year), PEN has enjoyed consistent positive growth each year and is poised for potentially explosive growth. PEN not only represents current writer/producers whose songs have been recorded by Christina Aguilera, Santana and Macy Gray among numerous others, it also is partners with Fairwood Music, Ltd. of London in representing successful catalogues such as Blue Mountain Music, Ltd., AppleTreeSongs, Opal Music (Brian Eno) and portions of the Average White Band catalogue.

Evan Medow - Evan's professional life started in private practice with several small firms in the Los Angeles area. He was also House Counsel for Dot Records and ABC Records and ABC Music Publishing and later came to Irving/Almo/Rondor Music, A&M Records' publishing operations where he served as head of Business Affairs/International for eight years. After leaving A&M in 1980, Evan ran his own legal practice, representing many large and small music publishing companies, major film companies, writers, artists and producers, production and record companies and was involved in a substantial number of catalog acquisitions. In 1991, he left his practice to become the C.E.O. of Windswept Pacific Entertainment Co. (now Windswept Holdings LLC) and have remained in that position to the present. Evan has served on the Boards of the Harry Fox Agency (since 2000) and National Music Publisher's Association (since 1993) and is on several of the more substantial committees of those organizations. He has also served on the BMI Foundation Board and on the ASCAP Advisory Board.

David Renzer - At the helm of one of the music industry's largest music publishing operations, David Renzer, is responsible for overseeing the global activities of Universal Music Publishing Group's 47 offices in 41 countries. Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG) is part of the Universal Music Group and one of the industry's largest global music publishing operations. Owning or administering more than 1 million copyrights, UMPG's writers and catalogs include: U2, Shania Twain, 50 Cent, Dave Grohl, Prince, Diana Krall, Godsmack, Ice Cube, Vanessa Carlton, Mary J. Blige, The Corrs, Eve, Musiq, Jill Scott, Brian McKnight, No Doubt, Blink-182, 3 Doors Down, Beastie Boys, Anastacia, Fatboy Slim, DMX, Gloria and Emilio Estefan, Paul Simon, the catalog of Henry Mancini, among many others. Renzer sits on the Board of ASCAP, THE NMPA,the executive board of City of Hope, as well as on the board of the Foundation for Ethnic Understanding. Renzer also founded the Songs of Hope Celebrity Sheet Music Auction event to benefit the City of Hope hospital.

Randall Wixen - Founder of Wixen Music Publishing, the pre-eminent independent music publishing company. Founded in 1978, the company administers music publishing rights for many of the most important catalogs and writers in the world. He is also the author of the forthcoming book, "The Plain and Simple Guide to Music Publishing," which will be released in hardcover this May by Hal Leonard Publications.

Attorneys and CPAs are able to register for continuing education credit for attending AIMP events. Be sure to have your state bar or CPA license number with you for the sign-in sheet. You must take your certificate of completion with you on the day of the event. AIMP can not issue certificates after the fact.


Special Rate For Full-time Students:

Full-time students with a current student I.D. will be admitted to most LA luncheons for $32.00 per person. All qualifying students must reserve in advance by phone and can pay by check or cash at the door. There are no online reservation or payment services for this discounted rate.
