AIMP PANELS

June 22, 2006

Time: 11:45 AM - 2:00 PM

Special Guest: David Basskin

Essential words of wisdom from David Basskin, President of the Canadian Musical Reproduction Rights Agency (CMRRA). Mr. Basskin is quite possibly Canada's first and foremost authority on protecting the reproduction rights of your music.

Music publishers face as many challenges in the Canadian market as anywhere else ? but things are developing differently north of the border. David Basskin is leading the charge for publishers in mechanical licensing, online licensing, sync licensing and in areas which have no American counterpart ? the Private Copying Levy and the Broadcast Mechanical Tariff. He?ll bring us up speed on the these issues, and more ? including the upcoming hearing before the Copyright Board of Canada that will set royalty rates for online downloads and subscription services.
