Additional Speaker Information

Howard Berman is the U.S. Representative for California's 28th congressional district, serving since 2003. Berman is known for his staunch protection of copyright interests and his alliances with the entertainment industry. He proposed legislation under which copyright holders would be able to employ technological tools such as file blocking, redirection, spoofs, and decoys—among others—to curb piracy (Peer to Peer Piracy Prevention Act). Recently, he has been named as one of the primary politicians involved in the creation of the Anti - Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA). In addition to Hollywood, his district also covers roughly the eastern half of Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley districts and the city of San Fernando.

Diane Warren is one of the most prolific songwriters of all time. Her songs have been featured in more than 100 motion pictures resulting in 6 Academy Award nominations. She has been nominated for 9 Grammys, 4 Golden Globes and has been named ASCAP’s Songwriter of the Year 6 times. The Grammy-winning Warren has written hit songs for such artists as Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Cher, Jennifer Hudson, Elton John, Tina Turner, Toni Braxton, Christina Aguilera, Kelly Clarkson, the romantic duo Due Voci, Carrie Underwood, Faith Hill and Aerosmith, among many others. She was the subject of the 2010 PBS special “Diane Warren: Love Songs.” She most recently wrote the original song “You Haven’t Seen The Last of Me” for Cher in the feature film “Burlesque.” Warren owns her publishing company, Realsongs, the most successful female-owned and operated business in the music industry.
