Neville L. Johnson is a partner at the seven person Beverly Hills firm of Johnson & Johnson LLP, which specializes in entertainment litigation, including those involving net profits and royalty disputes. He represents numerous publishers, record companies, producers, artists, songwriters and managers. He is the Chair of the Entertainment Section of the Beverly Hills Bar Association. He has been voted a “SuperLawyer,” and for the past three years, the Hollywood Reporter designated him a “Power Lawyer,” one of the top 100 entertainment lawyers in the nation. He was lead counsel in the successful class action against the record clubs which challenged the “three-quarter rate” paid by them. He recently settled class actions against the Writer’s Guild of America West, Inc., the Directors Guild of America, and the Screen Actors Guild, enabling over $200 Million to be paid out to talent. He co-wrote the chapters on music publishing, personal managers and getting a record deal in The Musician's Business & Legal Guide, 4th edition. He wrote the authorized biography, The John Wooden Pyramid of Success (2004), and writes, performs and releases music as the artist Trevor McShane, and co-owns a record label.

Now in private practice, until the end of 2007 Kent Klavens was Sr. Vice President and General Counsel of Famous Music (then a division of Viacom and affiliate of Paramount Pictures), which was sold to Sony/ATV that year. With Famous for almost 17 years, he was responsible for all major agreements, as well as copyright and other legal issues, including exclusive deals with songwriters such as Shakira, Eminem, Akon, Busta Rhymes, Boyz II Men and Bjork, catalog purchases, subpublishing agreements, audit settlements, litigation supervision, licenses and many legal matters involving Paramount's more than 75-year film and TV music catalog, as well as those of MTV, Nickelodeon and CBS. Kent's past and current clients include Universal Pictures, Lionsgate Pictures, Bug Music, Chrysalis Music, Delicious Vinyl Records, songwriter/artist Irene Cara, songwriter/producer Linda Perry, composer Lalo Schifrin, songwriter Steve Dorff, songwriter/producer Kike Santander and the Estate of Gene Roddenberry (Star Trek creator).

In 1992, Barry Massarsky formed a first-time economic consulting boutique servicing copyright owners’ strategic and statistical needs after serving ASCAP as its Senior Economist from 1981-1992. Massarsky Consulting holds unique expertise in music publishing economics and has enjoyed long-standing client relationships with UMPG, Warner Chappell, EMI, BMG Rights and SONY/ATV as well as many independents. The firm is recognized as the leader in performance income assessment. It has operated as economic advisors for SESAC for 19 years. Within the world of production music libraries, the firm has long represented APM, FirstCom and Killer Tracks and Non Stop in the areas of performance income evaluation and catalogue valuation modeling. Mr. Massarsky also serves as economic counsel to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

Erik Steigen is Director of the Publishing & Royalties Department at Provident Financial Management (Santa Monica, California). Provident is a leading business management firm with offices in San Francisco, Woodland Hills and Santa Monica, providing a variety of financial and strategic services for the entertainment community. Steigen also runs the boutique music publishing company 2850 Music. Steigen has signed a number of bands and songwriters to 2850 Music, including Don Felder (ex-Eagle), John Waite, Ryan Rabin (of Grouplove), Parlours, Taryn Manning, The Envy Corps, Parlours, Carsten Lindberg Hansen, and Bruce Greenwood, as well as writer/producer teams Captain Cuts and The Ontic. Since his arrival at Provident in 2002, Steigen has established a successful royalty accounting and publishing administration business providing hands-on services for musicians, songwriters, music publishers, record companies, new media companies and entrepreneurs. The department’s services include royalty accounting and licensing for indie labels, worldwide publishing administration and creative services for songwriters, third-party royalty accounting, royalty statement desk audits, sound recording performance royalty collection (neighboring rights), and financial due diligence for publishing catalog sales and acquisitions. In addition, Steigen provides strategic and advisory services for businesses in the digital space. Steigen thrives on creating opportunities and finding new income and revenue streams for his clients. Steigen is a former national board member of the Association of Independent Music Publishers (AIMP) and has been a panelist and moderator on various music industry panels.

Matt Hurewitz is the managing partner of Hurewitz, Boschan & Co. LLP. Hurewitz Boschan’s expertise is contract compliance audits (e.g., “royalty audits”). The firm represents royalty recipients and analyzes companies’ books and records to uncover unpaid royalties due and to identify other instances of contract non-compliance. It also provides litigation support and royalty statement preparation. Over the course of his career, Mr. Hurewitz has uncovered many millions in unpaid amounts due clients and has served as an expert witness in connection with many music royalty litigation matters.
