WANT YOUR SONGS BACK? NSAI To Host Copyright Recapture Seminar In Los Angeles

Deadline to "RECAPTURE" 1978 Songs Fast Approaching

For songs written after January 1, 1978, publishing can be "recaptured" by songwriters in the year 2013.  For 1979 songs, publishing can be recaptured in 2014 . . . etc.  The deadline for filing for copyright recapture is quickly approaching for the first post-1978 group of songs.  Please tell your friends with copyrights around that date that if they don’t file now, they will never have a chance again.  Songwriters with pre-1978 songs have to wait 56 years for recapture.  The seminar will cover recapturing both pre- and post-1978 songs. The California Songwriters Association and Nashville Songwriters Association are holding a free seminar on COPYRIGHT RECAPTURE on Tuesday, August 23rd, at 10:00 a.m. at Le Parc Suite Hotel (733 North West Knoll Drive, West Hollywood, CA 90069).  The seminar will cover recapturing both pre- and post-1978 songs.  Attorney Denise Stevens with Loeb & Loeb will make the presentation and answer questions.  Parking at the hotel is $5.00.  You do not need to be an NSAI member to attend.

THIS WILL BE THE ONLY SEMINAR ON THIS TOPIC WE DO THIS YEAR IN LOS ANGELES!

The other topic we will cover is the new GROUP COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INSURANCE policy with dramatically reduced rates.  With Copyright Infringement lawsuits more and more common, this policy was created for the working songwriter/composer by Robert Frost, who will make the presentation.

THIS EVENT IS FREE.  Please RSVP to debi@nashvillesongwriters.com if you plan to attend.
