This panel breaks down the true nature of what works creatively in Film & TV music. 

Industry experts will discuss specific styles and trends that work as well as how covers, re-records and re-mixes add value.

Before and after samples of music will be played. We will address whether music can be A&R’d specifically for sync.

This is a must attend for anyone pitching music or looking to get into creating music for film & TV!

After graduating from Berklee College of Music, Wendy Levy moved to Los Angeles to work in film and television as a composer, songwriter and music supervisor. She has also served as a network music consultant for UPN and The CW. Her credits include 90210, Melrose Place, Life Unexpected, Aliens in America and Privileged. She is currently supervising Switched At Birth, The Fosters and Ravenswood for ABC Family as well as Beauty and the Beast and Star-Crossed for The CW.

Marty Silverstone heads the licensing team at Primary Wave Music, overseeing synchronization for the company’s published songwriters and its artist management clients, as well as focusing on the identification and development of new talent. Along with team members based in both Los Angeles and New York, he has driven sync activity in all media with major placements in film, TV and advertising campaigns for artists such as Hall & Oates, Kurt Cobain, Steven Tyler, Def Leppard, and Chicago. Before joining Primary Wave, Marty was the head of licensing and creative affairs at independent publisher North Star Media. During this time, he developed his expertise in creative synchronization -- cultivating a unique approach to music licensing, and a new “A&R” of sync. Prior to his decade of experience working in music publishing, licensing and artist development, Marty began his music career in Canada at the Queen’s University Department of Psychology, where he conducted research on the psychology of popular music. He has been an instructor at the Berklee College of Music, teaching “Current Issues in the Music Industry.” Marty is also a graduate of Berklee, where he honed his expertise of song structure and his ear for melody, while also studying music production and business. As a music producer, he recently co-produced and served as the A&R on records for popular sync-band Oh Darling, which yielded multiple placements in TV, film and international advertising campaigns.

Michèle Vice-Maslin is an Emmy Winner, #1 Hit Songwriter Producer, Arranger, Publisher and Mentor. Michèle lives in L.A., originally from NYC. She has written, produced hit songs for major artists worldwide including #1 singles and has over 4000 Film, TV, Game, Promo, Advertising placements. Her collaborators include Ke$ha whom Michèle mentored, nurtured on her journey to stardom, Joelle James recently signed by Chris Brown whom Michèle nurtured, mentored from a very young age. Broadway Star - American Idol finalist Ace Young, and legends Paul Williams, Nile Rodgers, Gerry Goffin among many many others. Her U.S. major label credits include - Backstreet Boy Nick Carter, Popstars group Eden’s Crush feat. Nicole Scherzinger, Urban star Mica Paris feat. rappers Eric B and Rakeim, Smooth Jazz sensation Jonathan Butler, Inspirational Artists Avalon, Jump 5 , Plus One, Nickelodeon star Victoria Justice, Soul legends Sam Moore and Junior Walker, American Idol’s Latoya London, Urban Star Irene Cara, etc. She has also had many hits by major artists internationally incl. a recent #1 with boyband TVXQ in Japan. She currently has 3 national TV ads running and her Film/Television credits include Splice, The Vineyard, Single Ladies, Sam And Cat, Beauty And The Beast, The Perfect Holiday, Ghost Whisperer, Sons Of Anarchy, The Hills, General Hospital, The Bad Girls Club, Ugly Betty, Extreme Makeover, Victorious, ICarly, King Of The Hill, Laguna Beach, Missing, Redline, Motherhood, Best Ink, Popstars, 20/20 and hundreds more incl. Guiding Light’s music team for 18 years.

Steven Vincent is responsible for supervising music for original programming on Disney Channel, Disney XD, Disney Jr., ABC Family. He advises and collaborates with composers, songwriters & producers on original and licensed music for TV series and movies soundtracks. His credits include quadruple-Platinum "High School Musical" which made history as the first TV movie soundtrack to reach #1 on the Billboard 200. Other music franchises include Hannah Montana, Camp Rock, Austin & Ally, Shake it Up, and Cheetah Girls, and helping launch the music careers of Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Jonas Bros, and Selena Gomez.

Michelle Belcher is currently at Universal Music Publishing where she pitches and places music for Film & TV. She began her career inputting songwriter royalties for The Gordy Company (Motown’s publishing arm), she then moved on to soundtrack production with Morgan Creek, Columbia Records and Arista Records, where she also negotiated and issued licensing agreements. She then moved on to BMG Music Publishing where she pitched, placed and closed deals, and work-for-hire arrangements for many major and indie artists. Michelle then moved into the indie world with start-up Primary Wave Music where she was the GM of their west coast office and head of their Film & TV department for almost 5 years. She initiated the formation of a special markets division and many sync marketing campaigns. She also music supervised the films District 9 (Produced by Peter Jackson) and The Resident (a Hammer Film starring Hillary Swank). She is an amateur guitar player, a member of FIND (Film Independent) and a board member of the Los Angeles Chapter of the AIMP. She also routinely speaks on and moderates industry panels.
