Zach Best began his career in music in the Business & Legal Affairs Department of publisher Bug Music. He advanced to Contract Administrator, handling the processing of new clients’ contracts, catalogs and songs. While there, he focused on desktop royalty examinations, analyzing data received during onsite audit examinations and drafting and negotiating audit reports, as well as ad-hoc examination of source statements to ensure compliance with contractual royalty provisions. In addition, he handled the publishing administration for “self-administered” clients, including source statement input, data preparation, reconciliation and statement generation and output. In 2013 he joined the business management firm Provident Financial Management as Manager of the Royalties & Publishing Department. There he oversees the preparation and generation of record royalty, mechanical, net profit, publishing and various other statements for all of Provident’s label and publisher clients. He also provides royalty recommendations during contractual negotiations, catalog valuation services for publishing and master catalogs and desktop examinations of royalty & distribution statements.
