Broadcast Music, Inc.’s (BMI) senior management team, including Mike O’Neill, President  & CEO; Alison Smith, SVP, Distribution and Administration Services; Michael Steinberg, SVP, Licensing; and Stuart Rosen, SVP and General Counsel will provide an update on BMI, discuss the evolving music industry, BMI’s public comments to the Department of Justice, and what lies ahead. O’Neill will also reflect on his first year at the helm of the company.

Michael O’Neill is President and Chief Executive Officer of Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI). Mr. O’Neill oversees all of BMI’s business operations, both domestically and globally, and directs the Company’s strategic growth to benefit BMI’s writers, composers, music publishers and licensees. He is also a member of BMI’s Board of Directors. Mr. O’Neill has served BMI for nearly 20 years, most recently overseeing all aspects of BMI’s writer, composer and publisher relations, domestic licensing and revenue generation including radio, television, cable, satellite and the General Licensing division, and managing royalty distributions and administrative services groups. He has led licensing negotiations, developed new licenses and sales policies and spearheaded a new customer relations campaign. Mr. O’Neill holds an MBA from Rutgers University in Marketing and Finance and received his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Montclair University.

As Senior Vice President & General Counsel, Stuart Rosen reports directly to BMI President & CEO Mike O'Neill, and oversees global operations of the BMI Legal department, directing the organization’s legal affairs as well as all attorneys working within the company. He also supervises the company’s legislative and regulatory activities. Rosen joined BMI in 1996 as an Associate Attorney, and was promoted to Senior Attorney in 1999, to Assistant Vice President, Legal Affairs in 2002, to Vice President, Legal in September 2007 and to his current position in August 2011. From 2004 through 2011, he also served as the company’s Corporate Secretary. Prior to joining BMI, he was in private practice. Rosen received his undergraduate degree from Brooklyn College in 1981, and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1984.

Alison Smith is Senior Vice President of Distribution and Administration Services at Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI). In this role, Ms. Smith oversees the royalty distribution system, both foreign and domestic for BMI affiliates. Moreover, she has the additional responsibility of managing the Writer/ Publisher Administration and Research Departments. A Tennessee native, Ms. Smith joined BMI’s Writer/Publisher Relations Department in BMI’s Nashville office in 1985. She re-located to New York in 1987. It was in 1994 that she was named Assistant Vice President of Performing Rights and then subsequently named Vice President in 1996. Soon after, in 2003, she was named Senior Vice President. During her tenure at BMI, Ms. Smith has piloted the development of online digital tools to benefit BMI affiliates and music customers.. Considered an expert on performing rights administration, she has become an established thought leader and frequent guest speaker.

Michael G. Steinberg is Senior Vice President of Licensing at BMI. He is responsible for all domestic licensing revenues and operations involving digital media, AM/FM radio, network and local television, cable networks and MSOs, satellite radio and television, VOD and all General Licensing categories, such as restaurants and hotels.  In his current role, Steinberg has oversight of all of Licensing’s sales, operations and technology, P&L, industry relations, marketing and legal responsibilities.Steinberg joined BMI in 1996 as Assistant Vice President, Business Affairs, Licensing. His responsibilities included providing business and legal counsel to BMI’s Licensing team in its negotiations with BMI’s many diverse customers.  Steinberg took on greater managerial responsibilities when he was promoted to Vice President in 2002 and was promoted to his current position in 2011. Previously, Steinberg was Head of Worldwide Television Distribution at the New York-based entertainment company Troma Studios. Prior to his role at Troma Studios, he worked in the private practice of law with several prominent firms.He earned his Juris Doctorate from Fordham University School of Law and B.A from Binghamton University.  Steinberg also completed an Executive Program, Negotiating and Competitive Decision Making, at Harvard Business School.
