Join Us for a Seminar on Maximizing Your Exports and Leveraging Your Intellectual Property

Learn About Top Mistakes made by Small Businesses in Intellectual Property Rights and How the U.S. Commercial Service Can Help You Export Overseas.  Experts from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office will highlight intellectual property (IP) “Myths, Mysteries, and Mistakes” and will be joined by representatives from the U.S. Department of Commerce and Baker Donelson who will discuss doing business internationally.  Today’s businesses must have a working knowledge of IP, determining what IP assets they have and how those assets can be protected - whether by patents, trade secrets, trademarks, or copyrights.  Many small and medium-sized enterprises (U.S. based SMEs) may not have sufficient resources to engage intellectual property counsel, often engaging counsel after-the-fact, when a dispute or other problem arises, especially in the international arena.

This presentation is designed to help give SMEs their bearings, to help them identify their business assets that may be protectable by IP, understand which type(s) of IP may be available to protect these assets, and to develop a global IP strategy.  Even businesses that consider themselves “U.S. only” will benefit from this presentation, as U.S. businesses also may become victims of IP theft from other countries.
