The global music industry is evolving at a faster rate than current laws and practices (both domestic and international) can handle efficiently.  These days, success in our industry must be viewed from the global perspective.  We are honored to be able to bring many of our international colleagues together in one place so that we can discuss the latest trends and issues from around the world and how we are all affected by them and what is being done to adapt.

Teresa Alfonso is Teddysound’ s President and CEO. Teddysound is a Spanish Independent Music Publishing company specialized in foreign catalogues representation. Teresa is also the President of AEDEM (Spanish Music Publishers Association) and on IMPF’s (International Music Publishers Forum) board of directors and executive committee member, as well as on ICMP’s (International Confederation of Music Publishers) Popular Bureau, and Anti-Piracy committee member. Teresa is on MAE’s (Authors and Publishers Mutuality) board of directors and investment committee member as well as on SGAE’s International Committee Emeritus member and a CISNext’s Steering Committee member, a FastTrack (The Digital Copyright Network) initiative. Teresa recently served as SGAE’s vice president, and as “Mutualidad de Autores y Editores ” treasurer.

Niclass Bjorlund is the founder of Edition Bjorlund, an independent Scandinavian music publishing company. Edition Bjorlund is also an independent Scandinavian record company. They subpublish for Scandinavian territories and license for Sweden or Scandinavia. They sign their own writers and develop writers and artists for the world. Since 2011 when the company started, they have grown continuously. They now represent well over a hundred thousand songs from around the world in their sub-publishing division. They are very proud to be a part of the success of Eric Saade and Louise Hoffsten.

Vincent Degiorgio is the CEO of Cymba Music Publishing, a division of Chapter 2 Productions Inc, which he founded in 1991. Vincent brings a wealth of experience from all facets of the industry, including being a former International A&R VP at RCA Records, having signed N Sync amongst others. His company, Cymba, is an acronym for ‘Crushing Your Music Business Apathy” and has become one of the most pro-active, creative music publishing entities in Canada. With unprecedented global reach and a focus on the international market for recorded music and synch, it is home for writers Davor Vulama (Hedley), Aileen de la Cruz (Hipjoint’s “Let’s Go”), Ari Rhodes (Bryan Finlay, Lexi Strate) Ian Smith, Olivia Wik and multiple award winner, Dennis Ellsworth. Aside being president of his company, Vincent is also a multi-million selling song writer. His most recent work with Dutch pop star Caro Emerald recently eclipsed the two million album threshold. They include her million plus selling debut and her sophmore effort, “The Shocking Miss Emerald”. The latter debuted at # 1 on the Music Week album chart. Both albums were co-written by Vince in its entirety. Cymba represents the likes of urban/TV personality Keisha Chante, Italy’s Gabesco Music Publishing and Edition Bjorlund of Sweden in Canada. He has proudly served on numerous boards including the SAC, is on the advisory board of MROC and the board of the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame. He is currently the president of The Board of Directors of the Canadian Music Publishers Association.

Thomas Jamois has been active in the music publishing and sync business since 1997 (Virgin, Tricatel, Naïve) and founded the publishing company Velvetica in 2011. Focusing on the accurate collection of rights from audiovisual and advertising broadcasts, Velvetica notably administers worldwide the repertoires of film production companies such as Pathé but also the catalogue of leading Europe’s leading telecommunications operator Orange, partnering with a network of more than 15 sub-publishers throughout the world. Velvetica is sub-publishing in France some various international companies like Crunchy Tunes, La Chunga, Pennies from Heaven, Manners McDade, Arts & Crafts, Gaga, Editora Arlequim, Irmãos Vitale, Kobrow… Based on a venture with the Creaminal music for pictures’ agency, he is sometimes doing some Music Supervision for Film and TV, collaborating with international pop artists (Mogwai, Air, Timber Timbre, Sonic Youth, etc.). Mr. Jamois is Vice-President of the French Music Publishers' Association (CSDEM) and President of SACEM’s Audiovisual Committee.

Teri Nelson Carpenter is a music industry veteran. Her executive experience includes a background in performing rights management and overseeing major studio and network television music departments. Ms. Carpenters experience in protecting and monetizing music copyrights is well known and has earned her the highest level of respect from composers and publishers worldwide Ms. Carpenter is currently the President & CEO of Reel Muzik Werks, LLC. A Full Service Music Rights Management Company that specializes in Global Writer/Publisher Administration, Licensing & Clearance and Music Supervision for all Media. As the executive in charge of network television music at Fox Family Worldwide/Saban Entertainment, Ms. Carpenter was responsible for overseeing the Fox Family/Saban's global music business. Prior to that Ms. Carpenter served as a Music Administration & Production Executive at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM Studios). Before that she was the Director of Music at Academy Award Winning Indie Company, Hemdale Film Corp. Ms. Carpenter began her career at Broadcast Music Inc. in Film/TV relations. She spent much of her time at BMI working directly with composers and publishers providing assistance with their global performing rights concerns. Ms. Carpenter holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in Vocal Performance & Composition from Cal State Long Beach where she graduated with honors. Her post graduate studies at UCLA were in International Business and currently she is a guest lecturer in the music department at UCLA. Ms. Carpenter is a recent two-term President of the California Copyright Conference and Finance Chair of the Board of Directors of the Copyright Alliance in Washington, D.C.. Currently, Ms. Carpenter serves as the Vice President for the Association of Independent Music Publishers.
