Attention Students!  The AIMP has launched its education initiative at Lawry's.  What this means is that up to 8 students are allowed to attend each panel for $20 per person.  The fee does not include food. This is a great opportunity to learn about music publishing and network. You must RSVP and pay in advance via e-mail or by calling 818-771-7301.

Additional Speaker Information

JP Bommel was named NATPE's Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer in 2015 after a consultancy with the organization. Prior to working at NATPE, Bommel was President and Founder of BCi, a global event marketing company with clients such as High Beam, SXSW's official event organizer, Willie Nelson's company Austin City Limits Live and Cannes Lions. Bommel, a U.S. citized originally from France, has held several executive positions and has extensive experience at global media and entertainment firms such as Sony Music, BMG Entertainment, Capitol/EMI, Qwest Communications and Reed Exhibitions. Prior to running BCi, Bommel was VP Business Development, Entertainment Division at Reed Midem, helping launch their digital specialty markets. During his music industry career, Bommel developed global marketing plans for iconic talent such as Tina Turner and the late Etta James and also nurtured rising talent. He was responsible for opening the music divisions in emerging markets in Asia and Latin America for Sony, BMC and Capitol/EMI. In a visionary role, he also directed Qwest Communications to leverage the power of the then-rising internet and launched Qwest "anywhere anytime" digital media and entertainment practice, signing up major record companies, TV networks and media organizations including NBC, CBS, EMI and Sony, as well as sports teams like the New York Giants. A trusted advisor to the media and entertainment industry, Bommel presides over several media and entertainment groups. He is currently an associate member of NARAS, sits on the advisory board of the International Radio Festival Zurich and is an advisor to the T.J. Martell Foundation.

Robert Duncan is a four-time Emmy nominated television and film composer known for his work on 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' (UPN), 'Castle' (ABC), 'The Unit' (CBS), 'Last Resort' (ABC), Whispers and 'Terriers' (FX). Born and raised in Toronto, Robert attended a performing arts school and earned a bachelor's degree in music at York University. After honing his craft under the tutelage of two of Canada's top television composers, Robert moved to Los Angeles to participate in the ASCAP Film Scoring Workshop. Soon thereafter he began landing his own television scoring assignments. In 2006 he moved his studio and instrument collection into a historical rock 'n' roll facility formerly known as Devonshire Sound. In addition to the Emmy nominations, he is the recipient of a Hollywood Music in Media award and six ASCAP awards. He is represented by the Gorfaine/ Schwartz Agency.

Alicen Schneider heads up the creative music division and West Coast operations for NBCUniversal Television. In this position, she over-sees an in-house music supervision team who collectively supervise a multitude of series that are produced by Universal Television and Universal Cable Productions such as Grimm, Mr. Robot, Master Of None, Chicago Fire, Bates Motel, Girlfriends Guide To Divorce, Suits and Brooklyn Nine-Nine. In addition, Alicen covers everything relating to music across the NBCU family of Networks, which includes advising new producers on music procedures and subsequently assigning appropriate licensing and creative, vetting music budgets, suggesting and hiring composers, overseeing soundtracks, advising on stunt casting and on camera performances and music supervision for series and marketing campaigns. Notable past supervision projects include “Childhood’s End”, “Heroes Reborn“, “Being Human”, “Heroes”, “Grimm”, “Royal Pains”, “Lipstick Jungle”, “Crossing Jordan” and promos for a multitude of Olympics broadcasts. She also contributes additional support for co-production and third party partnerships as needed. Alicen was one of the first music supervisors to recognize the value of showcasing emerging and established artists for producers, executives and other Studio and Network personnel. She regularly hosts mini concerts in her suite of offices.

Teri Nelson Carpenter is a music industry veteran. Her executive experience includes a background in performing rights management and overseeing major studio & network television music departments. Her company, Reel Muzik Werks, LLC, is a full service music rights management company that specializes in global writer/publisher administration, licensing & clearance and music supervision for all media. Previously, she was Senior Vice President, Music at Fox Family Worldwide/Saban Entertainment. Prior to that Ms. Carpenter served as a Music Admin & Prod Executive at MetroGoldwyn-Mayer (MGM Studios). Before that she was the Director of Music at Hemdale Film Corp. Ms. Carpenter began her career at Broadcast Music Inc. She holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in Vocal Performance & Composition from Cal State Long Beach where she graduated with honors. Her post graduate studies at UCLA were in International Business and she is a guest lecturer in the music department at UCLA. Ms. Carpenter is a recent two-term President of the California Copyright Conference and Finance Chair of the Board of Directors of the Copyright Alliance in Washington, D.C. Currently, Ms. Carpenter serves on the CISAC Cross Industry Joint Project Lead, CIS-net steering committee and project team as well as the Society Publisher Forum and all A/V committees.
