The PMA presents Modern Media Composer: Grow Your Contacts, Refine Your Craft, Boost Your Income



Since 1997, the PMA has been hosting panels and other events for the benefit of the production music community. These events are designed to facilitate education and networking, so that the community can be better informed and connected. As an alternative format, the PMA presents round-table discussions this evening on various topics, with each table co-hosted by two industry experts. Attendees sign up for three thirty-minute table sessions which will rotate through the evening.

Tables/Topics (6 tables of approx. 8-10 people / 3 – 30 min sessions with 10- min breaks):

Table 1 & 2: Composition 1: Nuts And Bolts (hosts: TBD)
Production elements/considerations for composing for trailers, promos, ads, underscore, and more.  

Table 3: Composition 2: Wheels and Deals (hosts: TBD)
Structuring Publishing and/or Work for Hire Deals (sync share, backend, co-publishing, etc). Expectations for working with publishers, libraries and labels.  

Table 4: Teaming Up: Collaboration in Production Music (hosts: TBD)
Working with libraries to support their brand, structuring composer co-writes, NYC studio/music scene, networking

Table 5: Royalties: The Back End & The Long Tail (hosts: TBD)
Understanding PRO’s, collecting performance income, analyzing statements from various revenue partnerships, reading cue sheet

Table 6: Revenue Partnerships: Show Me The New Money (hosts: TBD)
Streaming income, consumer distribution, YouTube monetization, stems/samples, collaboration with majors, neighboring rights.
