Additional Speaker Information

Ariel Palitz is the first Senior Executive Director of the Office of Nightlife at the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment. The Office of Nightlife is led by Senior Executive Director Ariel Palitz, a lifelong New Yorker and nightlife professional. Palitz comes to the role with deep experience in both nightlife and community building. She owned and operated Sutra, a nightclub on the Lower East Side, for ten years; served on Community Board 3 for over six years and spent the past three years before her current appointment helping entrepreneurs open nightlife establishments in NYC through her consulting company Venue Advisors.

As an artist, Coyle was lead singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist in UK alternative bands, Your Vegas (Universal Republic), and later, The Chevin. In 2011, Coyle began writing outside his band, co-writing “Last Mile of The Way” for the UK band, Westlife’s, multi-platinum selling greatest hits album (RCA). Since then, Coyle has penned songs for many major label artists around the globe, including; Robin Schulz, Asher Roth, Stanaj, Michelle Branch, Echosmith, Rozes, Alex Winston, Peking Duk and Steve James to name a few. His many songwriting collaborations include Linda Perry (Pink, Christina Aguilera), RedOne (Lady Gaga, Enrique), LP (Rihanna), Mac Davis (Elvis Presley, Avicii, Bruno Mars), Kara DioGuardi (Kelly Clarkson, Brittany Spears), Steve Robson (One Direction, Olly Murs, 5 Seconds Of Summer), Aalias (DJ Snake, Eminem), The Stereotypes (Far East Movement, Justin Bieber), Dot Da Genious (Kid Cudi), Sterling Fox (Lana Del Rey, Adam Lambert), JR Rotem (Rihanna, Jason Derulo), Young Yonny (Trey Songz, Lil Wayne), Sam Endicott (The Bravery, Christina Aguilera). Coyle has also ventured into musical theater, writing songs for the award winning, record breaking French musical sensation ROBIN DES BOIS (Robin Hood) MUSICAL. His song “Gloria” from the show was both on the multi-platinum selling ROBIN DES BOIS show album, as well as the album LUIS by Opera singer Vincent Niclowhich which also went platinum in France. In 2016, THE THREE MUSKATEERS musical was released in Paris co-composed by Girelli himself. Girelli released his debut solo album, which has been described as ‘Americana Noir’ this past fall. Likewise, he is currently working on several original musicals in collaboration with some of the world’s most high profile artists. As co-founder of Honey Lemon Records, Girelli has been identifying, developing and releasing new talent through that label and also happens to be a co-founder of music collective, the New York Imagination Society.

As a recording artist, Ryan has released three solo GRAMMY-nominated projects: 2008’s This is Ryan Shaw on Columbia Records, 2011’s It Gets Better, and 2014’s Real Love on Dynotone Records. He has toured the world and shared the stage with such artists as Van Halen, Bonnie Raitt, Joss Stone, John Legend, B.B. King, Bruce Hornsby and Jill Scott, to name a few. His Carnegie Hall appearances include Elton John and Bernie Taupin Tribute, A Celebration of The African American Cultural Legacy, curated by Jessye Norman, and a recent Nat King Cole centennial concert with the New York Pops. His concert schedule also includes Nat King Cole at 100 with the National Symphony Orchestra at The Kennedy Center, and A Tribute to the Queen of Soul: Aretha Franklin with numerous major orchestras throughout North America. Ryan’s current solo project entitled, Imagining Marvin honors Marvin Gaye by performing songs from the legendary artist with new original songs influenced by Marvin’s inimitable style. Premiered live to a sold-out crowd in New York City, the show features the soon to-be-released new song, “Strong Men Can.” The song is co-written by Ryan and the iconic songwriter, Valerie Simpson, who, with her late partner Nick Ashford, wrote numerous hit songs for Marvin Gaye. The full album, Imagining Marvin will be released this fall 2020.

2019 witnessed the artistic birth of Roken, a Brooklyn based singer songwriter/producer, in possession of a broad palette of musical skills and boundless inspiration. “Bella Notte”, produced with Francois Tetaz (Goyte), set forth an artistic vision and sound template that, while unique in the pop landscape, incorporates diverse influences including Sade, Elliott Smith, New Order & Porches to name a few. 21 y/o Roken has been writing and producing music since 2013 and has honed his considerable production skills while crafting hundreds of bedroom pop gems from the attic of his parent’s house in Northport, NY. As his songwriting and vocal style evolved, Roken emerged as a singular artist distinct from his lo-fi pop roots. Inseparable love, painful romance and beauty within darkness are frequent themes in Roken’s world. Roken has become a sought-after co-writer and is a frequent collaborator with writers in NY, LA, Nashville and London including Jasper Leak (Sia), Michael Tighe (Jeff Buckley), Kennedy (BØRNS), Mike Irish (X Ambassadors) and Rob Persaud. Roken is busy at work finalizing his new self produced EP which will be released mid 2020.
