Associate Director Licensing (NY)

Position Overview: 

Boosey & Hawkes seeks an Associate Director of Licensing, who will oversee Grand Rights licensing and the rental of performance materials throughout North and South America. This individual reports to the Vice President of Boosey & Hawkes (New York office).

 Core Responsibilities:

  • License music for live theatrical performances and related broadcast to opera companies, dance companies, and orchestras throughout North and South America
  • Oversee small rights licensing and music rentals, supervising licensing and customer service representatives
  • Liaise with performers and composers/composers' estates to obtain necessary clearances for new productions and choreographies
  • Accurately project and track actual vs. budgeted revenue
  • Track stock in coordination with Editorial Department to ensure timely delivery of materials
  • Departmental liaison with counterparts in London and Berlin, and with other departments in New York

  • College or conservatory degree in music, or equivalent experience in classical music
  • Three or more years’ experience in music licensing
  • Able to multi-task and manage competing priorities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; able to learn and navigate proprietary software
  • Superior verbal and written communication/customer service skills
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations with grace and calm; diplomacy in dealing with high-profile and demanding clients
  • Reading knowledge of romance languages helpful
