Administrator, Legal & Creative Affairs - STARZ Music

The Administrator, Legal & Creative Affairs - Music position will work directly with the VP of Music, Starz Original Programming, whom is responsible for all music related matters on Starz Networks. In addition, the position will work on projects assigned by the VP Business Legal Affairs ranging from in show use, on-air promos, trailers, Branding Campaigns and third party productions.



  • Handle music licensing responsibilities including, sending out “confirmation of use” emails to licensors, reviewing license agreements, track payments and create music cue sheets accordingly
  • Create music cue sheets for all network needs including but not limited to, all on air promos track the on-air schedule with internal scheduling team, ensure third party information is accurate and submit to the PRO’s for processing
  • Responsible for entering, updating, and maintaining the music licensing worksheet with all information relating to music licensing quotes and contracts including licensor, publishing/ writer’s splits, master owner, term, territory, media rights, usage/timing, as well as, tracking outstanding license agreements, tracking payment status until fully executed and paid
  • Research music ownership and seeking, obtaining and negotiating quotes from labels, publishers and music libraries
  • Coordinate with internal teams, such as, Brand/Marketing, as well as outside vendors, regarding music clearance procedure, rights needed, financial procedures and license fees
  • Request AIFF / WAV audio files and instrumentals as needed for both in show and promo use.
  • Request streaming links to the all the promos and send to the label, music publishers and artist managers
  • Aid in music searches and pitches according to client requests
  • Listen and add descriptive terms to music for internal and client searches
  • Download all music received on a weekly basis and create weekly music playlists
  • Review contracts and deal closure memos and extract key terms
  • Draft and provide forms to production and creative services
  • Prepare first drafts of credit restrictions
  • Light drafting (NDAs, release forms, re-use agreements, clip licenses)
  • Various research projects


Required Skills


  • Bachelor’s degree in related field 
  • Minimum 5-8 years experience in Business Affairs/ Legal Music clearance role

  • Build forms and templates to improve workflow and efficiencies
  • Clear and concise communication skills
  • Ability to be resourceful, think practically and act quickly to solutions
  • Ability to read, extract and input critical data
  • Data entry experience using web-based database(s)
  • High level of professional communication etiquette
  • Self-starter with ability to handle high volumes of work
  • Strong organization skills, high attention to detail and ability to effectively manage time
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs: Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Proficiency in iTunes
