Position Summary

The position of Copyright Specialist will work with Operations and report to the Director of Copyright to ensure all data related to GMRO clients (both writers and publishers) conforms to established quality guidelines. This includes:

  • Reviewing each individual work record related to every current GMRO client and confirming ownership shares as well as correct pay status. This will require contact with the client’s personal and publishing representatives to confirm splits, acquire appropriate publishing and song agreements and populate proprietary software with pertinent information.
  • Reviewing and preparing works for removal from prior performance rights organizations (PROs). This will require contact with publishers, administrators and PROs to confirm resignation dates and works to be removed.
  • Providing assistance for database input, client earnings analyses, related customer service and weekly strategy meetings. This position will support departmental ad-hoc projects and analyses.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • 3+ years in music publishing
  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, music industry or related field
  • Strong academic and technological credentials
  • Detail-oriented with strong administration and communication (both written and verbal) skills
  • Ability to accommodate change and adapt accordingly
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects, to work independently and as a part of a team

Preferred Skills

  • Proficient computer skills, specifically related to Microsoft Excel
  • Analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills
