Royalty Administration and Registration Specialist (LA)

Spirit Production Music is currently seeking a Royalty Administration and Registration Coordinator to join our team in Studio City, CA. At Spirit Production Music, we strive to provide our clients with a wide range of extraordinary music products and services. 

OVERVIEW:
• Process incoming royalty statements from performing rights organizations (PROs), sub-publishers, and other income sources using Vistex Music Maestro
• Prepare detailed quarterly royalty reports and analysis
• Prepare outgoing quarterly and bi-annual client royalty statements and distributions
• Maintain client accounts and archive of statements
• Identify discrepancies and track income
• Analyze performance statements for missing income
• Reconcile royalty statements
• Register owned and represented works with domestic and foreign PROs
• Work closely with Performance Rights Organizations (PROs) to resolve basic copyright disputes and to ensure accurate and timely registration of works
• Prepare and send quarterly copyright registration updates to all international sub-publishers
• Run standard/regular and ad-hoc reports
• Interface with Accounting, Audio, Cue Sheet & Licensing departments
• Other related duties as needed
 

REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s Degree or Associate’s Degree from an accredited academic institution
• Passion for music, numbers and details along with excellent analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills
• High proficiency with Microsoft Excel is a must
• Familiarity with CounterPoint MusicMaestro and FileMaker Pro are preferred
• Working experience with both Mac and PC operating systems
• Resourcefulness, flexibility and exceptional teamwork skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with little supervision, under tight deadlines
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in person and via email
• Background in music publishing royalty accounting preferred (2+ years is ideal)
• Understanding royalty calculations and the use of royalty rates is a plus
• Understanding music publishing, copyright laws and performing rights is a plus
• Existing relationships with performing rights organizations (PROs) is a plus
