![]() Press Run Date - July 8, 2016 For the first time, the AIMP co-sponsored a breakfast reception at MIDEM 2016 with the Brussels-based Independent Music Publishers Forum (IMPF). The June 5th networking event attracted close to 100 independent publishers and collection society colleagues spanning the globe and was reported by many in attendance to be the networking highlight of their MIDEM.
The event was the inaugural joint effort between the two independent publisher-focused organizations, with the AIMP representing U.S-based publishers and the IMPF representing mainly European-based publishers.
AIMP President Michael Eames and AIMP Vice President Teri Nelson-Carpenter welcomed everyone to the gathering and introduced the AIMP to those not as familiar with them and then Pierre Mossiat, President of the IMPF, did the same for his organization. All three of them collectively spoke to the need for independent publishers worldwide to address the issues specific to them and the need for royalty rates in the digital world to accurately reflect the value that songwriters and publishers bring to the industry overall.
The event was such a success that the AIMP and IMPF will plan future joint events as they work together to bring attention to the important needs of songwriters and independent publishers worldwide.
