May 19, 2020 – The Los Angeles Chapter of the Association of Independent Music Publishers (AIMP) will present the inaugural Linda Komorsky Liker AIMP Scholarship Award to its first recipient, Angela McPhee, on May 21 at 5:30pm ET / 4:30pm CT / 2:30pm PT during the next installment of the AIMP’s weekly webinar series — “Update On The MMA / MLC.” The Scholarship Committee — Barbie Quinn, BMI and AIMP LA Chapter Board Member; Eric Polin, Universal Pictures and AIMP LA Chapter Board Member; Kathy Spanberger, peermusic and former AIMP LA Chapter President; and Liz Redwing, AIMP Administrative Director — reviewed many qualified applicants and recommended McPhee, who was unanimously confirmed by the AIMP LA Chapter Board of Directors. McPhee, who is entering her senior year at the University of Southern California (USC) Thornton School of Music pursuing a Bachelor of Science in the Music Industry, will be awarded $5,000 to help her continue her education.

"I am extremely grateful to receive this award from the AIMP," said McPhee. "This scholarship will allow me to continue my education at USC as I live out my dreams of inspiring people through music and pursuing a career in the music industry." During her time at USC, McPhee has been an Emerging Talent Associate at Warner Chappell Music, a TV Music Intern at DreamWorks Animation, a Sync Intern at Atlantic Records, and an A&R Scout at Artist Publishing Group / Atlantic Records. “The AIMP is proud to announce Angela McPhee as the recipient of the Linda Komorsky Liker AIMP Scholarship,” said Teri Nelson-Carpenter, National Chair and Los Angeles Chapter President of the AIMP, as well as President & CEO of Reel Muzik Werks, LLC. “Angela’s outstanding achievements as a student and young professional are truly inspiring and a great tribute to the memory of the award’s namesake. The AIMP wants to support and invest in music business students like her, who are shaping the future of independent music publishing and the industry at large.” Barbie Quinn, Scholarship Committee Chairperson, added, “The caliber of applicants demonstrates the future of the music industry is in capable hands, and the AIMP is proud to award the Linda Komorsky Liker AIMP Scholarship to this deserving recipient.” In addition to McPhee’s scholarship presentation, this week’s AIMP webinar will feature an “Update On The MMA / MLC” with panelists Kris Ahrend (CEO, The MLC), Tim Cohan (SVP Legal & Business Affairs, Peermusic / MLC Board), Alisa Coleman (COO, ABKCO Music & Records, Inc. / MLC Chair / AIMP NY Chapter President), Bart Herbison (Executive Director, NSAI / MLC Board), and Regan A. The panel will be moderated by Danielle Aguirre (EVP & General Counsel, NMPA).
