  • The AIMP mourns the loss of a true friend to independent songwriters and music publishers. Jay Rosenthal was more than an attorney to most of us. He passionately represented the causes for independents championing the way on major issues that deeply impacted the community. Jay was an important educator providing detailed knowledge at our Washington roundups and his experience and expertise to our executive board. He will be deeply missed by family, friends and the community of songwriters and music publishers. 
  • AIMP leaders Teri Nelson-Carpenter, National Chair and LA Chapter President; Alisa Coleman, NY Chapter President; and John Ozier, Nashville Chapter President, issued an official statement on the passage of the CASE Act in the U.S. House of Representatives. The AIMP is glad to see the legislation moving forward and encourages the Senate to pass it as soon as possible. Read the full statement via HITS Daily Double and Digital Music News.
  • The AIMP Nashville Pubcast is back for its third season! Hosted by Tim Hunze, Senior Director of Creative at Anthem Entertainment and an AIMP Nashville Board Member, the now bi-weekly series, which will run year-round, will feature 30-minute interviews with some of the most prominent music and publishing industry figures in Nashville discussing all aspects of the music business.  This year’s inaugural episode, “Winning the Battle, Continuing the War,” features David Israelite.
  • Mechanical Licensing Collective Board Members Outline Challenges, Next Steps - The deadline for building the Mechanical Licensing Collective (MLC) is on January 1, 2021. MLC board chairman, and NY Chapter president Alisa Coleman and non-voting board member Danielle Aguirre laid out where things stand now and the big obstacles before the board during an event for the Association of Independent Music Publishers New York Chapter.  Read more here.  
  • ASCAP Screen Music All-Stars Take Center Stage at Variety Summit - Variety brought out 11 major players in the ASCAP screen music community for its 2019 Music for Screens Summit, held October 29 at NeueHouse in Hollywood. ASCAP was a premier partner for the second annual event.  Read more about it here.  
  • BMI Band Rocks Annual Meeting of Licensing Executives - BMI brought the party to Denver and the annual gathering of the National Association of Licensing Compliance Professionals by providing the music at their opening night event. The 2019 NALCP annual conference kickoff party was highlighted by a performance from Dallas-based BMI band Northern National.  Read more about it here.  
  • Congratulations to the SESAC affiliates who were winners at the 50th Annual GMA Dove Awards which took place at Lipscomb University’s Allen Arena in Nashville on October 15th.
