  • Billboard's 2021 Top Music Lawyers - A big congratulations to AIMP LA Chapter board member Erin M. Jacobson, Esq., who has been named to this prestigious list for a second year!  You can see the full list of accomplished and notable attorneys here.  
  • The Global Music Industry grew 7.4% in 2020 as streaming and vinyl gains continued.  Read more here.  
  • Triller, the short-form video app, has struck a licensing agreement with the National Music Publishers’ Association, which represents most American music publishers. The deal will see the platform compensating the songwriters and publishers covered by NMPA when their songs are used in videos on the platform  Read more here.

  • Composers Jon Batiste and Sharon Farber have been newly elected to the Board of Directors of ASCAP, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, it was announced by ASCAP President and Chairman of the Board Paul Williams. They will each serve a two-year term beginning April 1st, 2021.  Read more here.  
  • BMI announced the appointments of Alfred C. Liggins, III, Chief Executive Officer of Urban One, Inc. (formerly known as Radio One) & Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of TV One, LLC and Craig Robinson, Executive Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer for NBCUniversal, to the BMI Board of Directors. Both Liggins’ and Robinson’s terms began April 1, 2021.  Read more here
  • SESAC is proud to congratulate its affiliated artists who received accolades from the 63rd Annual GRAMMY® Awards, held Sunday, March 14, outside the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles, California. Burna Boy received his first career win in the Best Global Music Album category for his album Twice As Tall, songwriter-artist PJ Morton took home his third trophy for Best Gospel Album with Gospel According to PJ, and Robert Glasper and Snarky Puppy were both awarded their fourth trophies – Best R&B Song “Better Than I Imagined” and Best Contemporary Instrumental Album for Live At The Royal Albert Hall, respectively.
