  • CISAC Global Collections Report shows creators’ royalties down by € 1 billion in 2020 - Worldwide royalty collections for creators of music, audiovisual, art, drama and literary works fell by 9.9% in 2020, with losses amounting to more than €1 billion as a result of the global pandemic .Total collections fell to €9.32 billion as lockdown measures saw live and public performance revenue nearly halve across the world, according to the latest annual Global Collections Report published by CISAC (International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers).   • Streaming Services Officially Publish Their 2023-2027 Mechanical Rate Proposals — This Is Gonna Be an Uphill Battle for Publishers - National Music Publishers’ Association (NMPA) president and CEO David Israelite claimed that streaming services were demanding “the lowest royalty rates in history” ahead of the Copyright Royalty Board’s mechanical rate determination for 2023 to 2027. Now, DSPs have officially published their rate proposals for the half-decade stretch.  Read more here.  
  • Interview with Peermusic CEO Mary Megan Peer - At the beginning of this year, Mary Megan Peer became Chief Executive Officer of peermusic — the family-led and owned company that her father and predecessor, Ralph Peer II, helmed for 37 years.  She moved up to the top seat after serving as Deputy CEO, during which time she helmed the publisher’s expansion into neighbouring rights, while also contributing to business growth equating to a 15% year-on-year increase in global receipts and a 12% rise in income collected for clients.  Read more here.  
  • Global ASCAP Family Wins at the 2021 World Soundtrack Awards - On October 23, 2021, the World Soundtrack Awards celebrated its 21st edition with a ceremony and concert at Opera Ghent with the Brussels Philharmonic, conducted by Dirk Brossé. It was the first time since 2019 the prestigious event brought back the film music community together along with industry professionals and fans from all over the world.  Read more here.  
  • BMI Congratulates its NaSHOF Inductees - The Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame honored BMI songwriters Kent Blazy (“If Tommorow Never Comes,” “Ain’t Goin’ Down”), Rhett Akins (“Dirt on My Boots,” “Honey Bee”), John Scott Sherrill (Nothin’ But the Wheel,” “The Church on Cumberland Road) and Toby Keith (Should’ve Been a Cowboy,” ‘Beer for My Horses”) as new inductees to the famed organization. The prestigious presentations also included musical tributes by many BMI affiliates including Carrie Underwood, Jason Isbell, Kenny Chesney, Ronnie Dunn and Thomas Rhett, who sang one of his father’s biggest hits as an artist, “That Ain’t My Truck.”
  • SESAC Congratulates 2021 GMA Dove Award Winners - Congratulations to our SESAC affiliates who were winners at the 52nd Annual GMA Dove Awards. The awards, which honor the best in Christian and Gospel music, returned to Allen Arena at Lipscomb University in Nashville and aired on Trinity Broadcast Network (TBN) on Friday, October 22nd.  To see the full list of SESAC winners, click here
